About Progress Medical University

Progress Medical University (officially known as Progress University of Armenia), established in 1990, is a private medical university located in Armenia’s second-largest city, Gyumri. It was one of the first private higher education institutions in the Shirak region. PMU is licensed and accredited by the Government of Armenia, maintaining a strong commitment to academic excellence, modern infrastructure, and student-centered education.

The MBBS program (MD in General Medicine) at PMU is a 6-year course that includes five years of academic training and a one-year clinical internship. The entire course is conducted in English and follows a curriculum aligned with international standards. With over 1,100 students currently enrolled, PMU has built a diverse academic community with students from India, Egypt, Jordan, Russia, the USA, and several African nations.

The university offers free FMGE/NEXT coaching, enhancing Indian students' readiness to practice medicine in India. Clinical training is conducted in partnership with Armenia Medical Center, the city’s largest hospital. PMU features two campuses, well-equipped labs, simulation centers, and a dedicated hostel for Indian students.

The university is recognized by WHO, NMC (India), ECFMG, and FAIMER. In 2023, it received two-year institutional accreditation from Armenia’s National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (ANQA), reinforcing its credibility as a globally respected institution.
